The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) announced that on April 18 they will launch a special Attestation System website, thereby beginning the process for eligible professionals planning to receive stimulus payments under the CMS EHR Incentive Program to claim their incentives.
The announcement stated:
Attestation for the Medicare Electronic Health Record (EHR) Incentive Program begins on April 18, 2011. In order to receive your Medicare EHR incentive payment, you must attest through CMS' web-based Medicare and Medicaid EHR Incentive Programs Registration and Attestation System.
Before attesting, an eligible professional must have already registered on the CMS Registration and Attestation site. The eligible professional will now have the ability to return to this site and attest to having met the meaningful use criteria for 90 consecutive days.
CMS has released a preview of its Attestation System and provided some initial instructions on how eligible professionals are expected to use the site. Sage will include this and additional assistance in the process of developing an Attestation to customers.
Sage encourages all planning to attest to first ensure that each eligible professional attesting has fully met the meaningful use requirements. Early indications are that failure to successfully attest on first attempt will result in a delay before the eligible professional is permitted to return for a second attempt.
Be sure to visit the Stimulus Resource Center for additional information about meeting the meaningful use requirements As you work on meeting the requirements, be sure to check back as Sage plans to continue updating this page with additional tools and information as more information becomes available from CMS.
